How Rates Are Calculated


Your rates are calculated based on the information given to us on the Residential Can Cleaning webpage. Rates are calculated by how frequent a customer wants their cans cleaned. Client agrees to pay The Can Standard the following fees:


Quarterly... $29.95 billed every three months. 

Semi-Annual...  $39.95 billed every six months. 

Our quarterly service includes one cleaning every three months of up to three of your trash cans. Each additional can costs $7.95 on top of the base fee every billing cycle.

We are a Professional Trash Can Cleaning Service that complies with all California Labor Laws and Legal Business Operations. This includes General Liability insurance and commercial auto insurance.

Our semi-annual service includes one cleaning every six months of up to three of your trash cans. Each additional can costs $10.95 on top of the base fee every billing cycle.

Rates are non-negotiable for three cans at all frequencies of service.

I agree to purchase trash can cleaning based on the info I gave on thecanstandard.com (rates above) as an automatic charge to my credit card. I hereby certify that I am the holder of the credit card. I understand my service will be deactivated if my account becomes more than 30 calendar days late. I understand my service agreement will autorenew at the end of my billing cycle and my credit card will be charged scheduled amount for service unless I contact the The Can Standard office by phone at (805) 768-4725, via email at wyatt@thecanstandard.com or I submit a request for cancellation via the Cancellation eForm, located at www.thecanstandard.com/cancellation, 30 days prior to my next billing cycle. 

Health & Safety

Due to health and safety reasons, we do ask to be informed beforehand if there are any infestation issues involved with a client’s trash cans so we may be ready to deal with such issues.

3 Strike Policy

We understand that life happens. Things come up that you may not be able to plan for. For this reason, we have established a policy that allows for some wiggle room.We require 1 business day notice to cancel an appointment without penalty. There will be a 50% cancelation fee ($14.97 charge for semi-annual clients and $19.97) for the second occurrence. 

If you do not give us this notification three times, service will be suspended. This also applies to LOCKOUTS, meaning that we are not able to access your trash cans on the scheduled day.

Schedules are always confirmed via email before initial service is started. Quarterly cleanings run on a 12-week rotation.  Semi-annual cleanings run on a 28-week rotation. Please add the cleaning schedule to your calendar as we are not able to give courtesy reminder calls each time. 

Access to Property

By ordering the service you are agreeing to allow The Can Standard staff members access to the edge of your property, where the trash cans are situated, on the designated service day. We work on a route system as to keep costs of service down. Service date will be based on the time the route is in your neighborhood, but we take great consideration in planning this to accommodate our customers.

If one of our team members is not allowed access to your trash cans on the designated service day, for whatever reason, the service may be recorded as completed and may be chargeable. You will be informed of the reason access to your trash cans was prevented.

If you have not placed your trash cans out for garbage or recycling collection on your designated day, we cannot provide our service as the cans will still be full. In this instance, the service will be recorded as completed, and will be chargeable.

Arrival Time

Cleaning service occurs between 10am- 6pm on your regularly scheduled day. Given that each trash can that we clean varies in the amount of time it takes to clean, we cannot guarantee an exact arrival/ departure time.

Arrival Day

The Can Standard makes every effort to consistently schedule a predetermined set day that we arrive for each cleaning. Our techs arrive for cleaning once every 12 weeks for quarterly cleaning and once every 28 weeks for semi-annual cleaning. If for any reason, we need to reschedule due to staff illness or other unforeseen circumstances, we will give you as much notice as possible.

Getting Ready for Cleaning

Please leave your trash cans for our cleaning techs before 7:00am on trash day and refrain from taking the cans away from the curb until your service is completed.


We accept all major credit cards through PayPal. For ongoing service, we offer the convenience of Auto-Pay through PayPal’s Credit/ Debit Card processing service. We do not accept check payments.


We require 30 days’ notice of cancellation in writing either by filling out the cancellation eForm located on our website at www.thecanstandard.com/cancellation, via email at wyatt@thecanstandard.com or by calling The Can Standard office at (805) 768-4725. If you do not provide us with 30 days’ notice via the afore mentioned method, your scheduled Can Cleaning will be auto-renewed and your credit card will be auto-debited.

As owner of The Can Standard, I take responsibility for my employees and their actions. Our policies are designed to help minimize risks. I will personally review any unresolved incident to insure the fairest resolution possible. You are our valued customer and we wish to resolve each incident to your satisfaction.

Please do not hesitate to give me a call if you need further clarification on any of our policies. We clean all homes with as much care and respect as possible.
